2. Write the steps to restore a file or folder from the Recycle Bin.

Ans. The Recycle Bin allows you to retrieve a deleted file. However, it is advisable to empty the Recycle Bin regularly to free up the disk space. To restore a file from the Recycle Bin, you need to perform the following steps:

 1. Double-click the Recycle Bin icon on the desktop. The Recycle Bin window appears.

 2. Right-click the file or folder in the Recycle Bin window that you want to restore. A context menu appears.

 3. Select the Restore option from the context menu.

3. Write the steps to delete a folder in Windows 10 operating system.

Ans. Perform the following steps to delete a file or folder:

 1. Open the File Explorer window.

 2. Select the file or folder that you want to delete.

 3. Press the Delete key from the keyboard.

 The file or folder gets deleted from the location and moved to the recycle bin folder.

Ans. Perform the following steps to rename a file or folder:

 1. Navigate to the location where the file or folder that you want to rename is saved.

 2. Right-click the folder or file that you want to rename. A context menu appears.

 3. Select the Rename option from the context menu. The name of the selected file or folder appears in the edit mode.

 4. Enter the new name for the file of folder.

 5. Press the Enter key. The file or folder gets renamed.

3. Write the steps to highlight text in an OpenOffice Writer.

Ans. Highlighting of text is done to make the text look different for drawing the reader’s attention towards it. The highlighted text hasa coloured background. You need to perform the following steps to highlight the text:

 1. Open a blank document in OpenOffice Writer.

 2. Enter some text into it.

 3. Select the text which you want to highlight.

 4. Click the Highlighting button on the Formatting bar.

 The text gets highlighted with the selected colour.

1. What do you mean by antivirus software? Explain with some examples.

Ans. Antivirus software is used to identify, prevent, and take action against malicious programs, such as viruses and worms, by deactivating or deleting them. You need to install antivirus software on your computer to protect it from a virus attack. You can easily purchase antivirus software from the market or download a free version of an antivirus program from its company’s website. However, it is recommended that you purchase a genuine copy of antivirus software as it includes future support for your computer, including the opportunity to update the software against new virus threats and various additional features. Some popular antivirus software are Norton Antivirus, McAfee, Smart cop, etc.

2. Write the steps to scan virus in the computer using antivirus software.

Ans. Perform the following steps to scan the entire hard disk drive or a hard disk partition:

 1. Open the antivirus software application. In our case we have opened the Seqrite Endpoint Security antivirus software.

 2. Select the Scan option. A drop-down list appears.

 3. Select the desired option to scan your computer.  The Seqrite Endpoint Security dialog box displays the scanning process.

 4. Click the Close button in the Seqrite Endpoint Security dialog box when the scanning is completed.

3. What do you understand by file and directories?

Ans. In the computer system, the disk drive is divided into directories. Each directory is further divided into sub-directories, and 

each sub-directory may also be divided into its sub-directories. 

If necessary, this process of division of directories may be 

continued with the addition of more levels. A file, in the context 

of a computer system, is a named collection of data stored on a 

storage device. Each file possesses some features and attributes, 

such as file name, file type or file access permission. To group 

similar types of files together, we create a directory and place 

those files in that directory. A directory may contain files as well as 

other subdirectories. This type of organized file structure is known 

as a multilevel or hierarchical directory structure.
